When asked, alumni will rate alumni career services as one of the leading benefits that an institution can offer its graduates. They are looking for support as they make career transitions, change jobs and advance their careers. For many institutions, alumni career services is a way they can add value to the original degree.
In alumni career services one size does not fit all. Some colleges offer career services at no fee to graduates informally upon request. Other programs are open to all alumni but charge a fee for services and resources. And, other programs are tied to membership in the university’s alumni association.
Staffing can range from part-time to several staff members dedicated the providing alumni career services and resources. Staff can report to career services offices, alumni associations, continuing education, or a combination of these offices.
