How can I connect with Midwest ACE colleagues?

Answer:

The Newsletter and the website are the main sources of information for all members. As a Midwest ACE member, you also have access to the on-line membership directory.  In addition, many committees communicate via listservs and teleconferences.

Question:
How can I get involved?

Answer:

There are SO many opportunities for you to become a vital part of the organization. Here are a few ideas:

  • Join a committee. It is a fun way to get involved, meet people and learn about the Association. Dive in! There are 8 standing committees in the Association that have the responsibility and fun of getting our business done. In addition conference committees coordinate the annual conference and the Trends in Recruiting Conference.  Every member has the opportunity to join a committee annually.
  • Attend the conferences! This is a great way to concentrate on your professional development, meet colleagues, and have fun. Conferences are loaded with workshops, keynote speakers, break-out sessions and important networking opportunities. The annual conference is held every fall, usually in August.
  • Read your Midwest ACE newsletter. The newsletter will help you stay connected to what's going on in the organization and educate you about how the association works for you.

Question:
How can Midwest ACE help me develop my leadership skills?

Answer:

Leaders typically are people who get involved and help make things happen. Joining a committee and/or nominating yourself to serve on the Assembly is a good way to take on responsibility and develop better leadership skills. Check out the conference program for workshops and sessions devoted to leadership development.

What is NACE?

Answer:

NACE is the National Association of Colleges & Employers. Midwest ACE is one of five regional organizations. Midwest ACE provides services to its members in 14 Midwest states. Many Midwest ACE members belong to both organizations to take advantage of various services and professional development opportunities offered by each organization.

What is the Executive Board?

Answer:

The Executive Board is a group of Midwest ACE leaders consisting of the current President, President-elect, Past President, Vice-President-College, Vice President-Employer, Vice President Development, Vice President Technology, Treasurer, Secretary and the Executive Director.

What is the mission of Midwest ACE?

Answer:

Mission of Midwest ACE: To maximize the career potential of college-educated adults through:

  • the fostering of employer and college/university relations;
  • the promotion of professional and ethical standards of conduct; and
  • the provision of professional development opportunities for its membership

What is the purpose of the Assembly?

Answer:

The Assembly is the governing body of our Association. It establishes Midwest ACE policies, ratifies the annual budget, approves constitutional amendments before they are presented to the membership for ratification and serves as an advisory body to the Executive Board.
