Job Description:

Primary Position Function/SummaryThe Assistant Director is a member of the Employer Engagement team, and specifically develops and fosters relationships with employers, manages on-campus recruiting, leads the mock interview program, and provides services and resources related to students’ preparation and search for job/internship positions. The Assistant Director also conducts career coaching appointments, plans and presents programs and workshops, and has direct contact with students on a daily basis in a variety of settings. Major Duties and Responsibilities Direct Service to Students (50%)Coach students one-on-one and in groups regarding career exploration and decision-making, preparation for graduate/professional school, and finding jobs and internships Develop and deliver workshops and programs for job- and internship-seeking students Outreach to diverse student populations and offices that serve underrepresented students Coordinate and supervise the mock interview program Connect students with alumni and employers through experiential learning activities Contribute to the development of programs and services that enhance the career readiness of students Employer Engagement and Campus Recruiting (35%)Develop, maintain, and actively cultivate relationships with local, regional, and national employers who recruit Illinois students for jobs and internships Manage on-campus recruiting services and programs, job/internship postings, and employer use of the career management software program (Handshake)Organize programs and events for employers/alumni to engage in and connect with students in coordination with the Career Education team Administer the Illini Career & Internship Fair and other campus recruiting events Contribute to implementation of employer outreach strategies in collaboration with the broader career services community Supervision and Contribution to Mission and Values (15%)Supervise and perform timely performance evaluations for up to ten students reporting to the position Collect, analyze and report yearly data of usage on services including but not limited to on-campus recruiting, employer engagement, and mock interview program Contribute to the design, creation, and maintenance of print and online resources Serve on The Career Center, Student Affairs, and/or campus committees, task forces, work groups, and advisory committees Participate in professional development activities and associations.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                          

                                                                                                                                                           

Job Requirements:

Experience Required1 year of work experience, which may include time as a graduate assistant Experience that demonstrates understanding of diverse populations and knowledge of cultural differences Experience that demonstrates ability to deliver outstanding customer service Preferred Experience in higher education, career coaching/advising, and/or working with college students Experience that demonstrates understanding of career and student development theory and practice Experience developing and maintaining professional relationships Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Excellent verbal, public speaking, writing, and listening skills Experience developing, administering and presenting career programs, seminars and workshops Sensitivity to cultural differences and the ability to relate effectively with a diverse student population Ability to plan, implement, manage, and evaluate programs/events and projects as well as handle multiple work priorities Possess excellent customer service and public relations skills, and an ability to work effectively in a team environment Effective collaboration and communication with students, faculty, administrators and external constituents Ability to effectively build and sustain relationships across constituent groups Experience with information technology including use of the Internet as an advising tool, and familiarity with various word-processing, database, spreadsheet, and presentation programs is highly desirable
